![]() Across the country, communities are mandating the use of grease traps to intercept restaurant generated FOG waste before it clogs sewers and pipes, where it causes the lion’s share of sewer overflows nationwide, according to a 2008 EPA report to Congress. Liquid waste haulers perform a crucial service for our communities by emptying these grease traps, but have had limited options to dispose of the end waste product, and often incur great cost to do so. When designing a FOG program for your wastewater operation, there are many considerations but hauler participation is a critical one for success. The FOG Energy System is designed with a hauler friendly approach which can enhance a hauling operation by lowering disposal costs, truck miles travelled and labor costs. The system is also completely automated. It records loads received, authenticates driver/company information and automatically samples loads. This ensures that the FOG Energy System can be tuned to changing FOG waste composition, and even stop the accidental introduction of unfriendly or toxic substances into the digester operation.
